Jonny Greenwood says Radiohead have finished the new album
Radiohead's seventh album is finished and ready to come out, Jonny Greenwood has told the American magazine Paste. The band met on the day he spoke to the magazine to talk about what to do with it, and nothing has been decided.
In mid-June Ed O'Brien wrote on Dead Air Space, the band's blog, that the record was nearly there, and in July the band were in New York to master it. As recently as mid-August their representatives were saying there would be no album before 2008.
Greenwood is also getting ready for the first American performances of Popcorn Superhet Receiver, his string piece for the BBC, at the Church of St Paul the Apostle in Manhattan on 16 and 17 January.
Radiohead have had no record deal since their six-album contract with EMI ended with Hail to the Thief in 2003, and nobody has been named to put the new one out. We're very relieved to have finished recording, now we have to decide what we should do with it.
