EMI pull a Google ad that sent In Rainbows buyers to their box set
EMI have taken down a paid Google advert that sent people looking for the new Radiohead album to the wrong box set. Until the end of last week, a search for Radiohead brought it up at the top of the results, offering In Rainbows as a box set. It led not to the band's discbox but to Parlophone's box of the seven albums Radiohead made while signed to EMI.
Both boxes come out in December at the same price. Some fans had already taken that as EMI setting itself up against the band, which the label denies. A label spokesperson told the Guardian that Parlophone had known of a fault in a data source and removed the link at once. The spokesperson twice declined to say whether that meant the label had placed the ad.
We accept that it was a genuine error and that it has been rectified
