Radiohead webcast their last North American show from the Santa Barbara Bowl

Radiohead played their last North American show of 2008 at a sold-out Santa Barbara Bowl on Thursday night, and webcast it live. Colin Greenwood announced the stream that day on Dead Air Space, the band's blog, to mark the end of the tour. It's one of our favourite places to play; I think we've ended tours there before, once even playing a cover of 'cinnamon girl'.³ They did, as the first song of the second encore on 30 June 2001. Nigel Godrich was helping to get the stream out, so if it goes wrong....It's live!³

The webcast went out at the same time as Barack Obama's speech accepting the Democratic nomination. More than 4,500 were inside the Bowl. Liars played a short opening set, followed by about half an hour of sound checks, and Aly Comingore, reviewing for the Santa Barbara Independent, put the whole evening at three and a half hours.

Radiohead played 25 songs under columns of light that changed colour with the music, opening with “Reckoner” and ending with “Idioteque”. Thom Yorke began the first encore alone at the piano with “Cymbal Rush”. This one, if I remember it, is from The Eraser¹, he said.
