Thom Yorke announces a 12-inch of two new songs, one with Jonny Greenwood
Thom Yorke announced a 12-inch of two new songs, “FeelingPulledApartbyHorses” and “The Hollow Earth”, today on Dead Air Space, the band's blog. It is a double A-side, on sale from 21 September.
The record is sold by W.A.S.T.E., the band's online shop, with a free download included, and in record shops; a regular download through the usual stores follows around 6 October. On Monday Sonic Unyon, the Canadian distributor, had said the 12-inch would be limited to about 4,000 copies for North America and about as many again for Europe.
He wrote the first with Jonny Greenwood, and the two of them play on it. Yorke calls it a radical rework of an old tune that has been without a home since 2001, he thinks. That tune is the song Radiohead played live in 2001 as “Reckoner”, in the set at the Gorge in George, Washington on 23 June that year. It is a different song from the “Reckoner” on In Rainbows.
The Hollow Earth is a bass menace that was born out of the Eraser period but needed a little more time.

Nigel Godrich produced both songs. The sliced sleeve is by Stanley and Tchock, the names Stanley Donwood and Yorke use for their artwork.
Yorke wrote of the billing, They are loosely under the Thom Yorke name this time, although these days its all getting kind of blurry.
