Radiohead add North American dates and an October arena tour

Radiohead have announced their first British tour since 2008, three arena nights in October, one in Manchester and two at the O2 in London. It comes a day after they added 11 North American concerts for late May and June, from the Comcast Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts, on 29 May to Downsview Park in Toronto on 16 June.

October also takes in three continental arenas. The Lanxess Arena in Cologne was already on the itinerary, and the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam and the Sportpaleis in Antwerp were added this morning with the British dates.

British tickets go to fan club members from 9am on Wednesday and to everyone else from 9am on Friday. Most are paperless, and all are four to a buyer, with no name changes once bought, and at the door each buyer will need the confirmation email, the card they paid with and photo ID. The rules are meant to stop resale, a band spokesman says, and come with the band's new arrangement with Ticket Trust, a fan-to-fan exchange that resells tickets at face value.

Londonist reports that Thom Yorke had said the band would play only indoors in Britain, for the sake of the sound, and that their last London concert was outdoors, at Victoria Park in 2008.

The North American run was announced on the day the band played Dallas, a week after the tour opened in Miami, and falls either side of their Bonnaroo appearance on 8 June, booked earlier. According to Relix, the spring legs passed over the big East Coast markets; this one takes the band back to New England, the Philadelphia area and Washington for the first time since 2008, and to the New York area for two nights at the Prudential Center in Newark. Tickets go on sale on Thursday. The sets so far have carried two new songs, “Identikit” and “Cut A Hole”.
