Radiohead play “The Amazing Sounds of Orgy” for the first time in Dallas

written up for the archive

Radiohead played “The Amazing Sounds of Orgy” live for the first time at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Monday 5 March, the fifth night of the tour. The song is a B-side of the 2001 “Pyramid Song” single, from the Amnesiac period, and it followed “Pyramid Song” in the set. “Hold onto your seats5,” Thom Yorke told the crowd before it began. Towards the end Jonny Greenwood worked the electronics, and the song seemed to be falling apart before it stopped.

The first encore brought the tour's first “Climbing Up the Walls”, and “Everything in Its Right Place” came in on a snatch of “True Love Waits”.

In the second encore Radiohead played “Skirting on the Surface” as a band for the first time. Yorke had played it alone at the piano in October 2009, at his Los Angeles shows with the band that became Atoms for Peace. In Dallas he switched to acoustic guitar, with synthesisers underneath.
