Radiohead play “Cut a Hole” again in Houston

Radiohead played their new song “Cut a Hole” for the second time at a sold-out Toyota Center in Houston on Saturday 3 March. At the Miami opener five days earlier it had come in the encore; here it sat in the main set, straight after “Codex”. Other Lives supported. It was their first night in Houston itself since March 1998: the tours of 2001, 2003 and 2008 had played the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, north of the city.

The Houston Press says Thom Yorke spoke to the crowd several times. He drawled a thank-you before “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi”, and before “Codex” grumbled about how much equipment the band have, then played the song alone at the piano. At times four people were drumming at once, Portishead's Clive Deamer among them.

After “Cut a Hole” came “These Are My Twisted Words”, first played live in August 2009 and one of three songs new to the tour that night, with “15 Step” and “Paranoid Android”, which closed the second encore. Yorke introduced “These Are My Twisted Words” with You may be lost now, but all will become clear soon… but perhaps not.¹
