Thom Yorke wrote on Dead Air Space, the band's blog, on 23 January about The Island President, Jon Shenk's documentary on Mohamed Nasheed, president of the Maldives, and his push to get a small nation heard in the climate change debate. The film, which ends with Nasheed at the Copenhagen climate summit in 2009, uses 14 Radiohead recordings, and they reach as far as “Treefingers” and “Hunting Bears”.

Stars of the Lid also contributed music. The film won the People's Choice award for documentaries, the audience prize, at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Pitchfork reported that it is at Sundance this week, with cinema runs in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco to follow.
