Philip Selway takes Weatherhouse to Lollapalooza and Osheaga
Philip Selway brings Weatherhouse back to North America tonight with a Lollapalooza aftershow at the Metro in Chicago, and plays the festival itself in Grant Park tomorrow. Weatherhouse, his second solo album, came out on Bella Union last October.
Osheaga in Montreal follows on 2 August, then five club nights from Toronto to Washington. Adem Ilhan, announced as the opener at four of them, is in the band too, with Kath Mann, who records as Quinta, and Chris Vatalaro.
In June Selway said Radiohead's work on their next record becomes a full schedule in September.
Playing only with each other was always the band's strength, he has told the Boston Globe, but other musicians bring out different sides of his musicality. My involvement in the Radiohead songwriting process is as the drummer. But working on my own material I'm central to the whole process
1 On his own records he sings lead as well. When you're doing the main vocals yourself it's an impression of who you are
