A fan posts all seven minutes of Radiohead's “Come to Your Senses”

written up for the archive

The fan who taped Radiohead's soundcheck at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California, on 24 June 2006 has posted the whole of the unreleased song the band tried out there, just over seven minutes of it. Stereogum has the full recording. The taper, who goes by Hoserama, put it up on Sunday, 12 years to the day. Until now the only part anyone had heard was an excerpt of about a minute, posted after the show.

Fans call the song “Come to Your Senses”, after the line Thom Yorke sings in its refrain. It is rootsy and partly acoustic, and in places it comes closer to country music than anything on the band's records. Radiohead have never played it at a concert.

The soundcheck was on the day of the second of their two nights in Berkeley. The tour had no new album to promote, and the band were playing the songs that became In Rainbows the following year. This one did not make the record. The title turned up in October 2011, when Yorke told Rolling Stone of a new song called “Come to Your Senses”, which was then a five-minute rehearsal.
