Cover: Nonesuch Records, Nonesuch RecordsJonny Greenwood's score for Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood comes out on vinyl for the first time on 18 January 2019, Nonesuch has announced. The LP has two pieces that were not on the 11-track album of 2007: “Proven Lands (Intro.)” and “De-Tuned Quartet”, which now closes the record.
The music is played by the BBC Concert Orchestra under Robert Ziegler and the Emperor Quartet.
It was Greenwood's first film for Anderson, before The Master, Inherent Vice and Phantom Thread. The score was nominated for a Grammy and a BAFTA, and was ruled ineligible for the Oscar because it drew on music that already existed.
