Thom Yorke has released “Hands Off The Antarctic”, an instrumental made for Greenpeace's campaign for an Antarctic Ocean Sanctuary. It was launched tonight in London with an animated 3D projection of Antarctic wildlife on Marble Arch, streamed live on Greenpeace's Facebook page and on Radiohead's.

Rolling Stone describes the track as electronic and about four minutes long. Its video is black-and-white footage of the Antarctic's ice and animals, shot from Greenpeace's ship Arctic Sunrise on a three-month research expedition earlier this year.

The sanctuary would cover 1.8 million square kilometres of the Weddell Sea, and the EU's proposal for it goes before governments at the Antarctic Ocean Commission in Hobart from 22 October. There are some places on this planet that are meant to stay raw and wild and not destroyed by humanity’s footprint.8 This track is about stopping the relentless march of those heavy footsteps.8
