Thom Yorke posts a wordless clip of piano over a blurred dancer
Thom Yorke posted a short clip of piano music on Friday 31 August, over a washed-out picture of a dancer, with no caption at all. It went up on Twitter and on Instagram, where it was the first post on his newly opened account.
The dancer was the clue, and the clip was taken everywhere as a taste of his score for Suspiria, Luca Guadagnino's remake of Dario Argento's 1977 horror film, set in a Berlin dance company in 1977. It is the first feature film Yorke has scored. The film is in competition at the Venice Film Festival and has its premiere there on Saturday 1 September, the day after the post.
His music has already been heard under the trailers. Vulture and Paste both rate the new clip gentler and plainer than those, which leaned towards the synthesisers of 1970s horror soundtracks.
