Thom Yorke releases his nine-minute “Creep (Very 2021 Rmx)”

written up for the archive

Thom Yorke has released “Creep (Very 2021 Rmx)”, the full version of the slowed “Creep” he made for Jun Takahashi's Undercover show in Tokyo in March. It is out today on XL Recordings as a digital single, credited to Thom Yorke featuring Radiohead.

In a short statement with the single, Yorke calls it my re-imagined remix version of Creep for 2021, 30 years later1. Done for my friend Jun Takahashi, and for a world that is seemingly turning upside down.1 The two have worked together before: according to Stereogum, in 2017 Yorke and Jonny Greenwood made a Radiohead megamix for Undercover's show at Paris Fashion Week.

The remix runs nine minutes, about two and a half times the length of the original, which Parlophone put out as a single in September 1992. It stays slow the whole way through, Yorke's voice stretched out over scratchy acoustic guitar until synthesisers come in late on.
