Radiohead are among more than 40 British artists who have signed a statement asking Keir Starmer to cap the price of resold tickets. Coldplay, PJ Harvey and Nick Cave signed it too.

The statement, co-ordinated by the consumer group Which?, says some resale sites let touts bulk-buy tickets and sell them on at inflated prices, so that fans pay over the odds or miss out. Which? published a study of resale listings from August and September alongside it, in which a single ticket for All Points East in Victoria Park was listed on Viagogo at £114,666.

In January the government opened a consultation on a cap of between 0 and 30 per cent above face value. Viagogo told Rolling Stone Italia that caps had failed in Ireland and Australia. A government spokesperson told the BBC that plans would be set out shortly, and Lisa Webb, a consumer law expert at Which?, says the prime minister must commit to this legislation by including it in the next King's Speech1.
