Thom Yorke's handwritten “No Surprises” lyrics sell for £10,240

A lyric sheet for “No Surprises” in Thom Yorke's hand has sold at Bonhams for £10,240, buyer's premium included, in the online sale British. Cool., which closed on 16 April. Lot 130 is dated to about 1996, a year before the song came out on OK Computer.

The catalogue describes a tidy draft in black ink on a page of lined notepaper, 21 by 13.4 cm, with several doodles. It reached the saleroom from the estate of Carol Baxter (1959-2017), who was vice-president of EMI International Marketing.
