Meeting in the Aisle

An instrumental B-side that became the tape the band walked on to.

  • 1997released

1997

programmed, not played

It came out on the “Karma Police” single and then on Airbag / How Am I Driving?: an atmospheric electronic piece built from programmed beats and string-like textures rather than a band arrangement. There are no words and there is no conventional structure, and it later turned up on the OKNOTOK reissue.

1998–2012

a tape, then four nights

Its live history is mostly a lighting cue. On the 1998 dates of the OK Computer tour it was the tape the band walked on to, doing the job that “Fitter Happier” had done the year before, and a tape is not a performance, so the archive does not count those nights. The band played it themselves on four nights in 2012, from Miami on 27 February 2012 to Paris on 11 October 2012, each time a few songs into the set.
