The books Radiohead's own people made: Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood's artwork and notebooks, and the catalogue of their Ashmolean show.
Stanley Donwood and Dr Tchock · 2007 · VersoStanley Donwood and Thom Yorke, who signs his art as Dr Tchock, gathered the pictures they had made for the records: the OK Computer artwork, the Kid A paintings and the Hail to the Thief landscapes. There is no running text, only the words that are part of the art. A first edition came out in 2006 for the pair's show at the Iguapop Gallery in Barcelona; Verso published it in 2007 and again as a paperback in 2015.
Stanley Donwood · 2019 · Thames & HudsonDonwood's own record of his years making Radiohead's artwork, told in order with a chapter for each major piece: sleeves, promotional work and his own projects. Each one runs from first ideas and sketchbook pages through Photoshop trials to the finished image, with the routes he abandoned kept in. Thom Yorke opens it with a short piece recalling how the two met at Exeter.
Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood · 2021 · CanongateMore than 300 colour images from the Kid A and Amnesiac period, from biro drawings to big painted canvases, collages and digital landscapes, much of it sent between Yorke and Donwood by fax in and around 1999. Minotaurs, pylons, maps and ring roads keep coming back. The two talk through how they worked, and Gareth Evans adds an essay, “Kid Alphabet”, on the band's records. Canongate published it in November 2021.
Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood · 2021 · CanongateThe words Yorke and Donwood sent each other in 1999 and 2000 while Kid A and Amnesiac were being made: faxes, notes, early lyrics, lists, sketches and scribbles. It is a pocket-sized paperback, published by Canongate on the same day as the artwork book Kid A Mnesia in November 2021.
Lena Fritsch (ed.) · 2025 · Ashmolean MuseumThe catalogue of the Ashmolean's show in Oxford (6 August 2025 to 18 January 2026), the first museum exhibition of the art Donwood and Yorke have made together. Edited by the curator Lena Fritsch, it runs in order from the 1980s to the present, covering Radiohead's covers and promotional images and the work for The Smile, with unpublished sketchbooks and archive material. There is an interview with the two artists, and essays by Alex Farquharson, Nico Kos Earle, Benjamin Myers, James Putnam and Jennifer Ramkalawon.
