Live from Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (April 2012)
Radiohead played Coachella's first Saturday in 2012 under about two dozen LED screens that changed shape between songs.
2012
the second kit
Since 2011 Clive Deamer, who also drums in Portishead, had played a second kit beside Phil Selway on stage. OC Weekly's reviewer watched the two of them build “Bloom” between them, and found “15 Step” heavier than on the record. It was the band's first headline set at Coachella since 2004, according to Uncut, and it ran about two hours, with the festival's second weekend still to come a week later.
The set leaned on the two newest records. Kevin Bronson of Buzzbands.la, who found the night bitterly cold, noticed that nothing from The Bends was played. “Identikit” was in it, a song the band had been playing since February and would not release for four more years, until A Moon Shaped Pool. “Staircase” and “The Daily Mail” had come out only four months earlier, as a pair of downloads from the band's From the Basement session.
2012
"Karma Police"
The crowd sang “Karma Police” back at the stage, and Thom Yorke said it was like a scene from a rock film of the eighties.
The '80s were shite in case you missed it, which you probably did.

Late in the first encore he sang a little of Neil Young's “After the Gold Rush” with no band behind him, and it turned into “Everything in Its Right Place”. The second encore was “Give Up the Ghost” and then “Paranoid Android”. Laura Studarus, writing up the day for Under the Radar, rated Radiohead the best thing at the festival. OC Weekly found the two hours close to faultless, and wondered whether a headliner with no guests and no surprises had given the festival enough.
