Kid A is dedicated to the first human clone, says Thom Yorke

written up for the archive

Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood spent Monday evening on Radiohead's official message board answering fans about the new record, and when one asked what lay behind the title Kid A, Yorke gave a one-line answer. Dedicated to the first human clone…I bet it has already happened1

Colin Greenwood all but confirmed the title at Meltdown at the start of July, calling it a very good guess, and the ten tracks were made official days later.

Jonny played down a rumour going round online that the title comes from Carl Steadman's Kid A In Alphabet Land, an illustrated alphabet of Jacques Lacan's ideas made as a set of cards.
