Ten autumn nights take Radiohead's big top to four British parks

written up for the archive

Radiohead have announced ten British dates for September and October, and they are bringing their own venue. The shows will be played in a purpose-built, circus-style marquee said to hold about 10,000, pitched in parks instead of arenas: Tredegar House in Newport, South Wales, then Victoria Park in east London, Glasgow Green and Victoria Park in Warrington, Cheshire, where the run ends on 3 October.

Tickets go on sale on Saturday 17 June. The night at the Royal Festival Hall on 1 July, part of the South Bank's Meltdown festival, is a one-off, and it has already sold out.

Between Newport and London the tent crosses to the continent.

On the band's message board Thom Yorke wrote that Sigur Ros had sent him their album and he thought it great, and that the band want to ask a lot of electronic artists too. It's possible we might have two supports. It depends on logistics in the tent. I'm trying to keep an open mind, see who can fit in where.3
