A jazz band and an orchestra are on the new album, says Colin Greenwood

written up for the archive

Colin Greenwood has told Humo, the Belgian weekly, that Radiohead's new album will be short, ten or 11 songs picked from the more than 20 they have. We've recorded one song with a jazz band, and another song with a 10-piece orchestra. Both songs will be on the new album.1

Beyond this record, the band already want an album of all-new songs finished by September 2001, Greenwood says, and everything they have now has to come out before then.

Some of it will be hard to take on the road. On one song Thom Yorke sings backwards, which Greenwood expects to be a challenge live. Greenwood says Yorke cannot play the piano, so he built up a piano part on a sequencer, and doubts anyone could play it by hand. You just can't play the result, unless you have 5 hands with 20 fingers each!1
