Radiohead cover Magazine's “Shot by Both Sides” at Werchter

written up for the archive

In the first encore at Werchter on Tuesday night, Radiohead played “Shot by Both Sides”, Magazine's first single from January 1978, a song they had never played before. Monday's first encore had a cover too, Can's “Thief”, which the band first played in Copenhagen on Friday.

When radiohead.com put up the European tent dates in June, the festival site at Werchter had Monday 11 September only, so Tuesday's show was an extra.

Magazine re-recorded “Shot by Both Sides” that year for their album Real Life, produced by John Leckie, who later made The Bends with Radiohead.
