Kid A to stream in full on a Radiohead page any site can carry
Radiohead have put out a small web page that any website can carry, and on Monday, 18 September, NME reports, the whole of Kid A is due to stream through it, a fortnight before the album reaches the shops. A site takes it on by ticking an option that links the page in, and nme.com is one of the sites running it.
The page is called the iBlip. It was built at Capitol Records, the band's American label, where Robin Sloan Bechtel runs new media. It holds pictures, e-cards and the blips, animated clips of 10 to 20 seconds that the band have made for the record in place of singles and videos. An interview comes with Monday's stream, and a download of a live “Permanent Daylight”, the song first released on the My Iron Lung EP, is promised later.
Kid A is out on Parlophone in Britain on 2 October and on Capitol in the US a day later. Some fans will not need Monday's stream, as NME also reports today that its readers have found the whole album on Napster, three weeks before release.
