Fan dies after collapsing at Radiohead's Jersey City show

written up for the archive

Jefferey Maguire collapsed during Radiohead's concert at Liberty State Park in Jersey City on Thursday 16 August and was pronounced dead in hospital less than an hour later. He was 19 and came from Syracuse, New York.

Sources at the state Department of Environmental Protection, which runs the park, told the Jersey Journal that he had suffered some sort of seizure. An autopsy was carried out the next day. Terrence Hull, the first assistant Hudson County prosecutor, said toxicology results were still to come.

There was an autopsy performed today, and there were no signs of trauma on the victim's body. At this point, there is no evidence of drug use.

Radiohead's second and final night at the park went ahead on Friday 17 August. Fans queueing for it said the show should go on, and one suggested a word in his memory before it began.
