Radiohead play “Like Spinning Plates” live for the first time in Ohio

Radiohead opened the first encore at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, on 8 August with “Like Spinning Plates”, the first time the Amnesiac song has been played live. The amphitheatre, the Cleveland area's summer venue, holds nearly 15,000, and the Michigan Daily's reviewer reports it sold out. That afternoon Jonny Greenwood had taken fans' questions in a Yahoo webchat.

The 22-song set began with “The National Anthem”. “Everything in Its Right Place”, which closed the main set, came in on a snatch of the Manic Street Preachers' “If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next”. No unreleased songs were played and nothing came from Pablo Honey, which the reviewer says disappointed some. Beyond OK Computer, Kid A and Amnesiac, the band reached back only to The Bends, for “My Iron Lung” and the closing “Street Spirit (Fade Out)”, and to the B-side “Talk Show Host”, which opened the second encore.

Traffic on a humid 90-degree day kept many from seeing either support act, the Beta Band included, and people were still arriving during Radiohead's set; the reviewer blames the site and its parking for spoiling the night. The band played themselves to exhaustion, Yorke frantic and the others wild, but the reviewer felt the scale of the event kept the crowd at arm's length, and calls it festival syndrome.
