Radiohead release “2+2=5”, the third single from Hail to the Thief

first posted on Treefingers by Miro · rewritten for the archive

“2+2=5”, the third single from Hail to the Thief, is out today in the UK on Parlophone, on two CDs and a DVD; the two remixes are also on a limited 12-inch, a white-label promo. Every extra track is another take on a song from the album, and the two remixes have been retitled, Cristian Vogel's “Myxomatosis” as “Remyxomatosis” and Four Tet's “Scatterbrain” as “Skttrbrain”.

Each CD pairs a remix with one more B-side: the first demo of “There There” on CD1, and on CD2 an early mix of “I Will” made at Ocean Way in Los Angeles, which the sleeve calls “I Will (Los Angeles Version)”.

The DVD has “2+2=5”, Ed Holdsworth's video for “Sit Down. Stand Up.” and an excerpt of The Most Gigantic Lying Mouth of All Time, the band's TV programme at radiohead.tv. All of it has been on radiohead.tv already, which makes the disc a little disappointing.
