“Go to Sleep”, the second single from Hail to the Thief, has gone into the UK singles chart at number 12, one place below the Libertines' “Don't Look Back Into the Sun”, and into the German chart at 82.
Three of the band had named “Go to Sleep” as the next single on Zoë Ball's Xfm show in May. Radiohead perform the song on BBC1's Top of the Pops on Friday 29 August at 7.30pm.
Parlophone released it on Monday 18 August on two CDs and a limited 12-inch, with three new songs shared between them. CD1 pairs one of them, “I Am Citizen Insane”, with a live “Fog (Again)”, the song whose studio version, “Fog”, was an extra track on the “Knives Out” single in 2001. Australia gets the single on 1 September and North America on 9 September.
Ryan Schreiber reviewed “I Am a Wicked Child” for Pitchfork the day before release and was hard on all three new tracks. The song's blues harmonica put him in mind of Alice in Chains.
