Thom Yorke plays “True Love Waits” alone at Madison Square Garden

Radiohead have played two nights at Madison Square Garden in New York, their first time back there since August 2001, and on Thursday, the first night, Thom Yorke came out for the second encore and played “True Love Waits” alone on acoustic guitar. The song is unreleased, and it was only its fourth outing of the tour, after London in May, the Beacon Theatre in New York in June and Madrid in July.
The Garden shows were the two nights added in July. Supergrass, the support on this part of the tour, had gone home and could not play them, so Low opened both nights, back with Radiohead after their July dates in Italy, France and Spain. The first call, we hear, went to Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, who had opened the August shows.
Friday's set kept only 13 of Thursday's songs. The band started with “The Gloaming” instead of “2 + 2 = 5”, and played “Creep” and “In Limbo”, which had come back in Atlanta four days earlier for the first time on the tour.
