Radiohead stream four finished songs from Hail to the Thief

written up for the archive

Radiohead have put four finished songs from Hail to the Thief online to stream at capitolrecords.com/radiohead, about two weeks before the album comes out. They are the first single, “There There”; “Sail to the Moon”, a piano ballad; “A Punch Up at a Wedding”; and “Myxomatosis”, named after a disease that killed rabbits in Britain. The “There There” video is on the site too, after its premiere last week on the Jumbotron screen above Times Square in New York.

Unfinished takes of the album leaked online earlier this year, to the band's frustration, and other versions have leaked since. Rolling Stone re-runs Colin Greenwood's reaction to the leak.

It's like having your house done over half way through having it done up

Ed O'Brien tells the magazine the band wanted to get back to shorter songs.

On tour in 2001 in America, I think we learned to swagger as a band. We wanted to capture that on record.
