DJ Shadow gives away an anti-war remix of “The Gloaming”

DJ Shadow has remixed “The Gloaming”, from Hail to the Thief, as an anti-war record for the US presidential election on 2 November. Everyone who ordered from his online shop up to polling day got it free, as a 10-inch record on his Reconstruction Productions label, in an edition of 2,000. The offer is over, and Drowned In Sound doubts the record will ever be easy to find.

According to Drowned In Sound, the disc is shaped like the head of the vice president, Dick Cheney, with horns, fangs and red eyes added. Shadow first played the mix on an American radio show. It is cut together from samples of President George Bush's voice, with words like “terror” and “weapons” chopped into the track.
