A torrential storm on Sunday night flooded and closed several roads around the Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, Virginia, and many fans with tickets for Radiohead's show there never reached it. Today the band's office, W.A.S.T.E., wrote on Dead Air Space that Radiohead had no control over the flooding or the detours, but that the members of Radiohead are nevertheless disappointed regarding this turn of events1. Those who never got in are asked to email the venue's customer service.

The concert, part of the first leg of the North American tour, went ahead in the rain, with Liars supporting and the people on the lawn sitting through the downpour. Those who got there heard four songs new to the tour: “Jigsaw Falling Into Place”, “Like Spinning Plates”, “Karma Police” and “Fake Plastic Trees”. “Faust Arp” was abandoned when Thom Yorke stumbled on the words, then started again, and “Fake Plastic Trees”, in the second encore, was not on the written setlist.

Colin Greenwood thanked those who made it for braving the deluge in a post of his own on the blog on Monday, with a photograph of Jonny Greenwood waiting in the loading bay as water streamed across the tarmac; the band did not get away until about three in the morning. Recalling floods at Bull Creek and lightning at RFK Stadium, where Radiohead played in June 1998, Colin decided that there must be some kind of Biblical fix between us and DC. Frogs next time?2
