Radiohead add “Lucky” and “The Bends” to the set in Tampa

Radiohead played the second night of their In Rainbows world tour at the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa, Florida, on Tuesday, and changed the set sharply from the night before in West Palm Beach, which opened the first leg of the North American tour. Both nights began with “All I Need”, but five songs in Tampa were new to the tour, from “Lucky” early in the main set to “The Bends” in the second encore.

For “Bangers + Mash”, musicOMH's review reports, the crew brought on a second full drum kit, and Thom Yorke played it. On “There There” most of the band took up sticks alongside Phil Selway. Jonny Greenwood played his guitar with a bow on “Pyramid Song”, and spent the night moving between guitar, piano, synthesiser and extra percussion, often playing two at once. For the electronic pieces from Kid A and Amnesiac the band sat on the stage floor to work their machines.

The reviews have the amphitheatre's video screens left dark at the band's request, and the band's screens above and behind them showed close shots of each member and abstract images. Long, thin light tubes hung across the stage, changing colour with every song.

Justin de la Cruz gave the night five out of five for musicOMH, and Creative Loafing Tampa put the crowd at 17,000. By musicOMH's account the show ran for more than two hours before ending with “House of Cards”.
