Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich air new Atoms for Peace music in a DJ set

written up for the archive

Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich played a DJ set billed as Atoms for Peace at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles on Friday 27 April, and slipped in several tracks nobody had heard in public before. The set, between Radiohead's second Coachella weekend and the start of their next North American leg, was part of Transmission LA: AV Club, a free festival of music and visual art at the museum curated by Mike D of the Beastie Boys.

Atoms for Peace are Yorke, Godrich, Flea, Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco. Their few shows so far were made of The Eraser and a handful of Radiohead songs. They have released nothing yet, and an album rumoured for this year has not been confirmed.

Footage filmed in the crowd went up in five parts. Spin counted at least five songs in it that sounded new, and wondered whether they were club remixes rather than songs by the band. They had icy electronics, skittering percussion and drifting keyboards, with Yorke's words barely audible.
