Radiohead lose all five of their Grammy nominations
Radiohead went into the 54th Grammy Awards on 12 February with five nominations for The King of Limbs and its single “Lotus Flower”, and came away with nothing.
Bon Iver's self-titled record took Best Alternative Music Album, the category The King of Limbs shared with Death Cab for Cutie, Foster the People and My Morning Jacket. The “Lotus Flower” video, directed by Garth Jennings, lost Best Short Form Music Video to Adele's “Rolling in the Deep”, one of six Grammys Adele won that night.
The album's newspaper-format package was nominated in the name of its art directors, Donald Twain and Zachariah Wildwood, the credits Stanley Donwood and Thom Yorke used on the record. It lost to Bruce Springsteen's box set The Promise: The Darkness on the Edge of Town Story.
Foo Fighters beat “Lotus Flower” twice with “Walk”. It won Best Rock Performance, over Coldplay, The Decemberists and Mumford & Sons as well, and Best Rock Song, where the nominated writers of “Lotus Flower” were all five members of Radiohead.
