Radiohead close Optimus Alive on their first Portugal visit in ten years

written up for the archive

Radiohead closed the Optimus Alive festival on the Algés waterfront, outside Lisbon, on Sunday 15 July, their first show in Portugal since they played Lisbon and Porto in July 2002. At one point Thom Yorke complained to the crowd that ten years was a long time.

PAUS, The Kooks and Caribou played before them on a final day that had sold out.

Daniela Espírito Santo, reviewing for JPN, the news site of the University of Porto's journalism course, wrote that the festival could hardly have had a better closing concert. The band said little between songs, played for two hours and came back twice. The second encore was “Street Spirit (Fade Out)” on its own.
