A fan film of Radiohead's second Roseland night is free online
A two-hour film of Radiohead's second night at the Roseland Ballroom in New York, on 29 September 2011, has gone up free on YouTube. Open Culture has the film to watch. It was the first time the full band played “Supercollider” at a concert, and the song opened the second encore. The two Roseland nights were two of only three concerts Radiohead gave in 2011, after a surprise set at Glastonbury in June.
Fans made it, editing together footage shot in the audience and posted to YouTube. Open Culture counts ten people filming, with at least two camera angles on every song. The band supplied the sound straight from their mixing desk and gave the project their blessing, as they did for a similar fan film of their Prague show of August 2009. DVD and HD versions can be downloaded free by torrent.
Instead of paying, viewers are asked to give to the Haiti Earthquake Fund, which the band have supported before, or to Hurricane Sandy relief. The film is dedicated to Scott Johnson, the band's drum technician, who was killed when the stage roof collapsed before their Toronto show in June.
