Ed O'Brien recalls talking God with Kanye West

Ed O'Brien has told Dave Okumu of The Invisible about the time he talked about God with Kanye West, at Carnival some years ago. The Fader puts the meeting in Rio de Janeiro; DIY says New Orleans. The story comes in the second part of their interview for the Ninja Tune podcast.

For three hours, O'Brien says, West had no interest in talking to him. Then religion came up, and O'Brien told West how British musicians see God.

If you ask pretty much any British musician whether they ‘believed in God,’ I’d tell you that 99% of them would say, ‘Don’t be stupid, of course not.’

It blew West's mind, O'Brien says. He was like, 'You cannot be serious, man!'¹
