Thom Yorke backs the petition for a second EU referendum
Thom Yorke has shared the parliamentary petition calling for a second referendum on Britain's place in the European Union, after the vote on 23 June went 52 per cent to leave on a turnout of 72 per cent. The petition asks for a rule that a referendum is held again if the winning side takes under 60 per cent on a turnout below 75 per cent. It has been signed more than a million times since Friday morning, far past the 100,000 at which Parliament considers a petition for debate.
Yorke also passed on a blog post about the result, “The EU Referendum: Turkeys have voted for Christmas”, which dwells on how many of the leave votes came from people over 65. He added a line of his own.
this just in > old UK turkeys vote for Christmas and then get very confused
