Thom Yorke makes a Bedtime Mix for BBC Radio 1
Thom Yorke has made a Bedtime Mix for BBC Radio 1, half an hour of music to fall asleep to, and it opens on a newly made spoken introduction in the manner of “Fitter Happier”. Most of the rest is electronic and experimental music, from Luke Abbott and James Holden to the composer Laurie Spiegel, an experimental pioneer.
Its one Radiohead track is “Melatonin”, the 1997 B-side named after the sleep hormone. Straight after it comes Yorke alone, singing “Bloom” at the Pathway To Paris climate benefit in Paris last December. The mix went out in Phil Taggart's Sunday-night show on 24 July, billed by the BBC as a Radiohead Bedtime Mix.
Yorke posted it on Twitter at four in the morning. Night night. Lights out.
