It was the first of two nights in Chicago and the first of 18 dates that end in Philadelphia on 1 August. Nina Simone's “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free” played on tape before “Daydreaming” opened the set. In the main set Thom Yorke said he could not remember the words to “Decks Dark”.
“Blow Out” has been away this long once before. A regular in the band's sets of the mid-1990s, it dropped out after Cologne on 2 July 1997 and did not come back until two nights at the Tokyo International Forum on the In Rainbows tour, on 7 and 8 October 2008.
