Radiohead add a longer “Treefingers” and two mixes to their library

written up for the archive

Radiohead added three rare recordings to the Radiohead Public Library, the online archive they opened in January at radiohead.com, on Friday 21 February, and put all three on the streaming services the same day. The one fans will reach for first is the extended “Treefingers”, for 20 years available only on the soundtrack album of Christopher Nolan's Memento. It runs about a minute longer than the Kid A version, keeps the same shape and is still an instrumental.

The second is the Nellee Hooper mix of “Talk Show Host” heard in Baz Luhrmann's 1996 film Romeo + Juliet. Hooper, who produced music for the film, made it sparer and closer to trip-hop than the band's own recording, a B-side of “Street Spirit (Fade Out)”.

The third is a new remix of the Hail to the Thief song “The Gloaming”, “The 33.33333 Remix”. It runs 3 minutes 33 seconds and lifts Thom Yorke's voice out almost entirely, leaving a few fragments near the end.
