Radiohead join TikTok, with Chieftain Mews at the news desk

Radiohead have joined TikTok. The verified account, @radiohead, went up on the morning of 1 April with the profile line Proud to be joining the TikTok revolution², inverted commas and all.

Its first post stars Chieftain Mews, a character from the band's old webcasts. He has turned up on their channels before; in early December 2004 references to him ran through the headings of radiohead.com.

The clip is short, glitchy and black and white, with Mews at a MEWS news desk and the bear logo behind him. A voice off camera tells him to say something. He asks what he is supposed to say, then tells the viewer, over a snatch of “Paranoid Android”, This is your wakeup call. Have a good day.²
