Jonny Greenwood's organ piece to run for eight hours at the Met
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will close its new Met Live Arts season, announced on 30 July, with eight hours of Jonny Greenwood's organ music on Saturday 27 February 2027. Eliza McCarthy and James McVinnie will play his X Years of Reverb, renamed 112 Years of Reverb for the age of the Met's building. They play from noon until 8pm in the Arms and Armor Court at The Met Fifth Avenue, and tickets are sold for either four-hour half of the day or for the whole of it. Greenwood wrote it for the two organists and will not play himself.
The instrument is the museum's Thomas Appleton pipe organ, built in 1830, which the Met bills as a way back to the sounds the building's earlier visitors would have heard.
