The Vermont Cynic tells students to borrow Pablo Honey rather than buy it
The Vermont Cynic, the University of Vermont's student paper, reviews Pablo Honey in its 9 September issue and tells readers to borrow a friend's copy, or wait until one turns up in the used racks at Pure Pop, a local record shop.
“Creep” is the exception, a single made for radio whose distorted guitar outshines everything else on the album. The rest is filed as formulaic corporate rock with no surprises, stuck in middling British progressive rock, with the obligatory weak ballad and nothing for serious headbangers.
It is not a bad album, the review allows, and a few tracks are worth nodding along to, but it will wear thin quickly.
