Ed O'Brien talks up Radiohead's second album in Drum Media
Ed O'Brien says Radiohead have been recording their second album and some of the songs are great, in the cover interview of this week's Drum Media, Sydney's free weekly. John Tingwell reached him in a hotel room in Florence, a city O'Brien had never visited, about two weeks into the band's European dates.
The interview runs ahead of the band's show at Selina's on Saturday 18 June, their first in Sydney and the fifth night of their first Australian tour.
O'Brien is wary of the word success.
We're under no illusions whatsoever that we're successful because success implies some sort of longevity.

Drum Media puts Pablo Honey at over a million copies worldwide, and says it at one stage outsold Suede's debut 15 to one. O'Brien says it sold on the strength of one song, and that “Creep” happened to suit a slacker mood of the time. The band always worried about being taken for one-hit wonders, he says, and he finds it very bizarre to have read in Q that Jon Bon Jovi wishes he had written “Creep”.
