Radiohead lose both their Brit nominations to Coldplay
Coldplay beat Radiohead to both the awards they were up for at the Brits at Earls Court in London on Monday night. Parachutes, Coldplay's debut, won British Album, where Kid A was up against Craig David's Born to Do It and Robbie Williams's Sing When You're Winning, among others. Coldplay took British Group as well, from a shortlist that also had Radiohead, All Saints, Moloko and Toploader.
Five days ago Kid A won Best Alternative Music Album at the Grammys in Los Angeles. At home, Radiohead have been shortlisted for British Group twice before, losing to Oasis in 1996 and to the Verve in 1998.
BBC News Online's readers would have voted the other way. Its poll for best British group, which closed at 4pm on the day of the ceremony, drew more than 4,200 votes and gave Radiohead 48.7 per cent of them, twice Coldplay's share.
