Radiohead's Kid A goes platinum in America

The Recording Industry Association of America certified Kid A platinum today, for a million copies shipped in the United States, eight days before the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, where it is up for Album of the Year and two more. Capitol released it in America on 3 October, so the million took a little over four months; it entered the Billboard 200 at number one that month.
