Radiohead's Kid A wins the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album
Radiohead's Kid A won Best Alternative Music Album at the 43rd Grammy Awards, held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on 21 February. It beat Beck's Midnite Vultures, The Cure's Bloodflowers, Fiona Apple's When the Pawn and Paul McCartney's Liverpool Sound Collage. The Recording Academy credits the award to Nigel Godrich and Radiohead as producers, and to Godrich as engineer and mixer.
Kid A, a record with no singles and almost no videos, was also one of the five albums up for Album of the Year, against Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP, Beck's Midnite Vultures, Paul Simon's You're the One and Steely Dan's Two Against Nature. Steely Dan's first album in 20 years took it.
