Radiohead return to Sweden and Norway and play “Hunting Bears” live

written up for the archive

Radiohead played Oslo Spektrum on Sunday night, and “The National Anthem” ran into “Hunting Bears”, the Amnesiac instrumental, played live for the first time. The B-side “Pearly*” came in the first encore, and Thom Yorke opened the second alone on acoustic guitar with “True Love Waits”, before the band came back for “The Bends”.

The night before they were at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, where Yorke began “Everything in Its Right Place” with a few lines of the Manic Street Preachers' “If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next”. These are their first shows in Sweden and Norway since November 1997, when they played Hovet in Stockholm and Rockefeller in Oslo, a night Dagbladet gave six out of six. Spektrum they had played once before, in August 1995.

Dagbladet's Friday magazine had met Ed O'Brien in Stockholm earlier in the summer. We're the guitar band that has removed ourselves from the guitars.1
